DR IAN ROSS

BSC DVM

Ian and his partner Laura (also a vet) have lived in Christchurch since 2007.

Ian graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1999 (PEI is famous for it's Potatoes, Lobster, and Anne of Green Gables). On his way from Canada to NZ he worked for a year in Connecticut USA, 3 years in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, USA and locumed for 3 years all over Scotland and England.  He met his partner Laura near Inverness, Scotland.

Three years later they travelled to NZ with multiple animals and have decided to stay. Ian worked at the After Hours Vet Centre here in Christchurch for 8 years.

The importance of offering pain relief to ill and injured animals is why he became a vet and that remains as his passion to this day. Ian feels strongly that cats have very different needs from dogs especially when injured or unwell.  This is his first time working in a clinic without barking dogs and he's loving every minute of it (and he's loving being part of this great team too).

Emma

Practice Manager / Veterinary Nurse

Emma has enjoyed her vet nursing journey since 2002. She has had the pleasure of meeting amazing clients and their special fur families over this time.

Her passion is to provide a happy and supportive experience for everyone who visits our cat clinic. Emma welcomes all of our feline friends.

Emma enjoys social time doing a variety of craft making projects and loves to learn new skills in this creative area. She is also a theatre enthusiast varying events between musicals, improv, and opera.

NIKI

Veterinary nurse (CVN)

Niki has always had a passion for animal care, so in 2014 she qualified as a veterinary nurse so she could turn that passion into a career. She was ecstatic to join the team at The Cat Vet, where a cat's health and well being is the top priority. When Niki has some spare time she is usually doing something outside, such as hiking in the mountains, or walking on the beach.

Charlotte

Veterinary Nurse (DVN)

Charlotte completed her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in November 2024. She joined us in April 2024 and is excited to continue to learn and grow her knowledge and skills.

Her interests lie particularly in emergency nursing and radiography, where she hopes to make a meaningful impact on the animals and their family lives.

Outside of her working hours, if not with family you can often find her at home, curled up on the couch with a good book.

Sharleen

Veterinary Nurse (CVN)

Hello, I’m Sharleen, I’m a mother of 4 gorgeous kids ranging from 4 to 19 years. We have 3 cats, a dog, and 2 birds.

I started my career with animals when I was 17 doing dog grooming, which I still do to this day. I studied vet nursing in 2011 and worked at the after hours vet before joining The Cat Vet. I love music and spending time with my animals, friends, and family.
